Apple Vision Pro to be released on 2/2, pre-orders start from 1/19

The company also said that prescription lenses for the Vision Pro cost $149 and the device will have 256GB of storage.

The $3,500 wearable device is Apple’s answer to Meta’s Quest product. The “Fruit Company” introduced this hardware masterpiece at the 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference.

“The era of spatial computing is here,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a company press release. The wearable is equipped with the M2 chip – a processor developed by Apple that is used in the company’s computer lines.

Apple’s Vision Pro is the first new product category since the Apple Watch debuted in 2015. However, analysts and experts do not expect this headset to generate significant revenue right out of the gate.

UBS estimates Vision Pro revenue could be around $1.4 billion, a “relatively insignificant” number compared to total revenue.

Many companies have made efforts to promote the concept of virtual reality in recent years, but so far no name has succeeded in widely popularizing this concept to consumers or business customers.

Vision Pro will run on VisionOS, along with an input system that allows users to control the device with their eyes, hands and voice.

Apple says some office and creative apps will be compatible with Vision Pro, including Microsoft Office and Salesforce’s Slack.

With the new product, Apple aims to change the way consumers experience game and video content. Users will be able to view videos from Apple TV+ and many other platforms on a virtual screen that “feels 100 feet wide”.
