Ahead of the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung unveiled the world’s first see-through MicroLED display at the Samsung First Look event.
The new screen uses transparent LEDs to project content. The manufacturer promises a superior technological product that makes “the boundary between content and reality indistinguishable.”
Transparent screens are nothing new and Samsung has been trying to improve them since the company first announced them in 2015.
Samsung’s screen is not only transparent but also modular. There are different sizes, providing users with options to customize the shape and size to their requirements.
The technology behind Samsung’s new see-through MicroLED display includes a complex manufacturing process that eliminates seams and light refraction, creating a thin and transparent screen like glass.
The outstanding features of the new product were presented by Samsung in a short video, demonstrating the superior capabilities of the new MicroLED screen.
Currently, the new see-through MicroLED display is still considered a luxury item for the wealthy. The reason is that Samsung’s MicroLED TV prices are very high, currently priced at $150,000 for the 110-inch model.
Until significant cost-cutting solutions are implemented, this product will still only be a dream and out of reach for the vast majority of average consumers.
